Ahmed Alkaliby, M.D., Ph.D. is a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist at Associated Retinal Consultants, serving patients in Northern Michigan. He specializes in the medical and surgical management of vitreoretinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion and retinal detachment.
Dr. Alkaliby completed his Masters of Science in Ophthalmology with Highest Honors and his Doctor of Medicine degree at Tanta University in Tanta, Egypt. He completed his Internship at Tanta University General Hospital in Tanta, Egypt. He then completed his Ophthalmology Residency and Surgical Vitreoretinal Fellowship at Tanta University Eye Hospital in Tanta, Egypt. Dr. Alkaliby completed his Vitreoretinal Fellowship at the University of California, Gavin Herbert Eye Institute in Irvine, California.
Dr. Alkaliby has authored a number of books and book chapters on retinal surgery and other vitreoretinal topics. He has also served as an ophthalmology journal peer reviewer and book reviewer. Dr. Alkaliby has lectured as a visiting professor at a number of national and international universities.
